Juvenile seagull.
A cold but sunny day so I took my usual fair weather walk through the park at lunchtime. I'd promised to report on the ducks to a colleague who's particularly fond of them, and realised as I looked that with all the pigeons, gulls, coots, moorhens, geese, swans and pelicans, there are very few ducks on the lake in St James Park! I caught sight of this juvenile sea gull - huge compared to the black headed gulls nearby. I liked the pattern of its feathers and the water surface behind. I'm not sure exactly which gull this is - on looking it up I didn't realise that there were about 4/5 types of gull which look similar as an adult (and I don't have a photo of the adults to compare).
Bonfire Night tonight when the UK 'celebrates' the discovery of a plot in the 1600's to blow up the Houses of Parliament. We didn't get to go to any displays this year as D was a bit under the weather at the weekend with a lingering cold and teeth coming through. He was his usual sunny self today though and we had a fun journey to and from the office. Not a bad Monday!
