Blackbird.
Each morning he comes for a small handful of sultanas, which he adores. I started this a couple of years ago one extremely cold spring.
Now each spring as they begin to forage for nest building material he waits on the fence till I open the curtains and then flies down to the patio.
Sadly his mate of a couple of years, who had a slightly bent claw on one foot, has not been seen this time. But he is foraging for worms and snails. So there is a new mate and a nest. Only she is not yet used to his addiction to sultanas, and although I have spotted her she is shy.
He eats them at a rapid rate!
Then we are rewarded by his beautiful singing.
