Arrivals

I'm sitting in Arlanda airport, slowly arriving at the end of a blissful four hour waiting stretch Filling Time], inspired and invigorated as a result from whiling away the afternoon in Terminal 5 watching a great movie and beginning a new book that's bound to end up as a thriller seeing as the opening line reads; When all is said and done, killing my mother came very easily. A few hits at the seven-eleven to buy 10 kronor strong coffees and some much anticipated finale time of plugging in to listen to Swedish floaty music accompanies me nicely as I find a comfy spot on the floor to sprawl out and await the arrival of me Ma and Bro. It's an easy environment to sit and stare, as it's a known character trait of the Swedes to gawp indiscreetly and refrain from averting their gaze once being discovered of their intrusion.

There are all sorts of reunions happening in front of my inquisitive gaze, I am especially enjoying observing the sweet uniting of long lost lovers, throwing themselves into each other's arms in some cases and in others, performing an underwhelming peck and cursory quick wooden embrace. Who am I to pass judgement about people's lives of which I know nothing about, but it's fun anyway to try figure out their stories anyway. I love to watch people's wondering preliminary seeking peeks as they first trot through the sliding doors, reservedly looking about for their ride or reunion + reattachment and the varying expressions that greet them once a recognition has occurred. How stranger's faces are so much less warm, inviting or interesting as the ones you so hope to soon meet of your family's. How bewildered, glazed and perplexed young children look, let alone the frantic disorientation of babies hovering in a starfish gracefully attached movement, glued to their parent. How glassy and bored other folk's faces look, from sitting in an oppressed defying gravity cabin, recycling stale air for however much time and quickly trying to adjust to the unnatural shift in climate and culture as a result of the turbo eco crippling nature of flying tens of thousands of metres above the clouds.

And then, to Solna to leap into the arms of my Mormor + Morfar.
