Tropea.
The beach at Tropea. This bit was lovely although I'm not keen on serried ranks of umbrellas and sun loungers which is the way Italians do beaches. Give me a bit of wild undeveloped coastline with big waves and rocks any time.
We have achieved our objective and are now on the triangular football at the toe of Italy, known as Sicily, after a short ferry ride. We are camping by the sea in Taormina. It's very windy this evening, but warm. The sea here is crystal clear but less warm than it was at Paestum.
We've been trying to work out how to make the most of our time here. We think we will take a look at the Town tomorrow then try to drive around Mt Etna if that's feasible. Hope it doesn't blow its top in the next week or so, although it would make for some interesting Blips,
