Problem solved

Different wildlife for my blip this morning. Watching the feeders again whilst having breakfast it wasn't Starlings that caught my eye (Flutter butter jar is empty!) but this cheeky Squirrel.

The feeders at the front are on quite a wobbly pole and with this morning's very strong winds he was struggling to get to the food but wasn't giving up. After several aborted tries he disappeared into the tree. I thought he'd given up but then he reappeared in the bushes alongside. This was the solution.
A steadier base and the food within reach.

We do get interesting little garden birds at the feeders every day and I would prefer that they got the lion's share of the food but you have to admire the tenacity of the squirrels when it comes to solving a problem that leads them to a meal!
