Schwarzwald

I was sad to leave Reutte and Austria behind, especially as there was a wine tasting festival happening today.

Onwards again this time to Triberg to see Germany’s highest waterfall. An odd town with a mixture of traditional Black Forest wooden buildings and unfinished properties smattered in between. The waterfall was worth the climb, there were seven cascades altogether surrounded by leafy green trees - perfect.

Later we had some time at Lake Titisee. A very busy tourist spot with many souvenir shops and eateries. Quite a small lake really but none the less very pretty.

The coach finally stopped in Rickenbach at Alemannenhof Hotel Engel. It was like stepping inside a little wooden jewellery box. An odd place with orange pine walls and forty year old furniture everywhere. The tap and shower fittings were bright yellow! It’s a family run hotel and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Otto was the boss. Dinner was tasty with reasonable portion sizes. I’m looking forward to a good nights sleep - church bells permitting!
