Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2018 Sunday — 17th A Very Good Day

This is the last full day of owning our big house — the 17th of June — a very good day (what I always say about the 17th).

I’ve so looked forward to this day. Then 3 hours ago, we were about done getting our stuff from the “estate/moving sale” out of the house and my tears started flowing. I’ve been sobbing. We went to Denny’s at 8:30 this evening for dinner; I sat there and cried and cried.

We’ve never sold a home we’ve lived in; a home that we’ve personified; a home that we put our heart into.

Ownership of the house transfers tomorrow about 6:00 p.m. These tears caught me by surprise.

I’m 68 and I’ve never sold a home I have lived in.

This has been the first Father’s Day that we’ve had no living father to honor. My “Pops” died March 1.

The last thing we carried out of the house this evening before leaving was my bride’s dress and veil from our 40th anniversary celebration. Mr. Fun asked me to keep it and not leave it for the man who comes tomorrow morning to clean out the left-overs from the estate sale.

Lots of reasons to be emotional. A Very Good Day — sort of.
