Outstaying Our Welcome
Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,
Tonight, The Prince and I went to Pomegranate for dinner with Mr & Mrs Dodzilla and Mr & Mrs Rod.
I expected it to be a very sedate evening. Mrs Dodzilla is pregnant and they planned to get the last train home. Mr and Mrs Rod had to leave at midnight for their babysitter.
What I hadn’t factored in was the BYOB mentality. The rules for going to BYOB restaurants is that everyone takes waaaaay too much wine due to the fear of running out and the idea that they should bring enough to share.
There is also an unwritten rule that COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, you HAVE to finish all of the wine. No drop shall be left undrunk. That would be wasteful and it’s VERY BAD to be wasted wasteful.
So, we were the last to leave the restaurant. Mr and Mrs Dodzilla had missed their last train home and Rod had phoned the babysitter to ask if she could stay later! We went for another couple of drinks in The Outhouse, where once again, we were the last people to leave. I had a great night with a great bunch of people. I spent a lot of it chatting to Mrs Dodzilla. There’s nothing sober, pregnant people love more than drunk chat on repeat!
