Rishton Prospects Canal Adoption.

Last evening I went to the Rishton Prospects AGM, and it was good to reflect on some of the achievements we had worked on locally to keep Rishton looking a green and pleasant village. Our village motto is Reviresco meaning I renew my strength, I grow green again.
This really hits the spot for me and it means alot to our Green group.
We welcomed Matthew and Katie from the Canal and River Trust who are helping us to define our goals for canal improvement now we have adopted our part of the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
It is an awesome task and there is much to do in terms of keeping the tow path litter free and safe for walkers and cyclists, tending to the rose beds and planted areas beside the canal. We need risk assessments for all these tasks.
There is only one barge available to clean up the water itself and this is why we need a strong team of volunteers who don't mind rolling up their sleeves and extracting all sorts of fly tipping from the canal.
Our first big clean up is in conjunction with the Rotary Club on 25th November from 10am onwards.
Hoping the weather is kind to us.
This blip shows views of the canal from High Street bridge.
The left hand photo is looking towards Accrington, the middle one is just below the bridge, and the right hand one is looking toward Great Harwood.
