A Simple Garden Bouquet

Dear Diary,

I was able to find a few peonies and iris that survived the storm and I put them in a lovely blue vase that was my mom's favorite.  They look perfect on the porch and if any ants rode in on the peonies that's fine.

I attended Rittner's School of Floral Design in Boston and got my certificate in March of 1969 just 3 months before my marriage.  Back then bouquets were much more rigid and "arranged" while now I favor a loose, just picked, look.  I worked as a florist for awhile until I decided to go into teaching but I have always loved arranging flowers and having them in the house.  Fresh flowers just cheer you up I find.

If you have two pennies, spend one on bread and one on flowers.  The bread will give you life and the flowers a reason for living.  Chinese Proverb
