This mosaic catches my eye every time I pass it – it adorns the path to a building in Bloomsbury.

I woke up far too late this morning and had to race around the flat getting ready. With Fred away and the neighbours upstairs on holiday, it means I have to wake myself up and an alarm doesn't always do it. Back in my single days, I used to sleep through three different alarms and had to face the wrath of my boss (he was very nice about it really, but completely exasperated with my amazing sleeping superpowers). I blame it on growing up in a noisy household – I can sleep through anything.

I had a lovely day in the office helping out with bits and pieces, and enjoyed a wander to Chapel Street Market in Islington, which I haven't been to in years. I paid a visit to the pet shop to top up Juno's biscuits and popped into the ironmongers and bought seeds that I must plant and not forget about. A nasturtium has sprouted in the garden from last year's planting, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought Fred and I had jointly killed all of them by mistake. The nasturtium could do with some friends, though..

Fred's now in Kirkcudbright and I hope he has more sleep than he did last night (lots of wind and rain to worried the tent). I've had a fine evening in with a gentle, slow-paced film New Jerusalem, which I almost gave up on but then it grew on me. I gave it 3/5. When Fred's away, I try to watch the film that's about to expire at midnight on Mubi. I've watched some surprisingly enjoyable and thoughtful films by taking a chance on them.
