Rishton roses.The Esplanade.
The Esplanade is a part of the main Blackburn Road, once the old coach road between Blackburn and Burnley, where the Council used to tend beautiful rose beds and a variety of yearly bedding plants and perennials. The cut backs to funding mean if the people who live there did not volunteer to do some planting, weeding and watering, the place would go to rack and ruin. The Council do in fact still mow the grassed areas. Thankfully local residents teamed up and look after the place incredibly well, giving up some of their own time.
Rishton is a sparkling example of a caring, mostly Christian, united community.
These old fragrant roses are a testimony to their kindness and community mindedness.
We have a gorgeous blue skied warm sunny day.
I hope you all enjoy a relaxing weekend.
Thank you for visiting my journal.
Words of Wisdom from Holy Shift by Robert Holden.
"There is a light in you which cannot die;
whose presence is so holy that the
world is sanctified because
of you.
All things that live bring gifts to you, and
offer them in gratitude and gladness
at your feet.
The scent of flowers is their gift
to you."
