Ionian coast

We caught the ferry back from Messina to the mainland aiming for a campsite in the 'instep' of Italy.   We decided it would be interesting to take the longer and slower coast road around the toe and along the Ionian Coast.    

We didn't really expect much because there is little mention of this area in the guidebooks but it is gorgeous.   We didn't see anything as nice as this during our entire week on Sicily.   The road was also very good and fast so we arrived at out intended destination around 5pm.
