inspired by a steam iron
Carol showed me the new iron and admired the neat way the flex was accommodated under the heel when the iron was at rest. She was ironing many, many yards of calico for use in the re-framing of the Quaker tapestries. She invited me to take over from her. It looked a pleasant enough task.
An hour later, and still half an hour before lunch, I began to think I had been conned. I was reminded of Tom Sawyer and his cunning plan to get his friends to paint a fence for him.
I'm only kidding, Carol! It's good to be involved, whatever the task.
