Lee and Melody
Lee and Melody believe dance and art-making can heal trauma, and the trauma that most concerns them is the trauma of children separated from their families. They were working on this concept before the recent attention to immigrant children being abducted and jailed by the Trump administration. Lee offered a hiphop workshop to the Arts Camp, and I offered the two of them a portrait photo for their publicity.
Evan goes his own way. In the Extra, you will see him in the background during the hiphop class, protecting his ears from the music. He also refused to join in the group photo, and while he enjoyed making art and bonded with another little boy he played with, he rejected any activity that involved taking instruction.
