Off to the Baltic
Expectedly I was knackered in the morning.
I worked until 12 pm then closed the laptop!
We packed for the 2 days and went out for a walk.
I wanted to have breakfast at the French. I had not had my Galette yet!
Back home we loaded the car and set off towards north.
It took a while to get out of town and the roads were busy on a Friday afternoon. We had about 300 km to drive.
Half way I needed a coffee and we went off the Autobahn. Neil with his amazing "Coffee Radar" found us a place in the country side at a small "castle" ... we call it Burg.
We were sitting outside watching over the park. It was nice, quiet and relaxed. See blip for the view we had.
After the break Neil took over and we arrived at Timmendorfer Strand.
This is a posh place and we were booked into the poshest place, the Grand Hotel Seeschlösschen. We moved the car in the garage and in the meantime they had moved our luggage in the Junior Suite in the 8th floor! It was lovely. A room at the corner with view over the beach and the town. windows and balconies all the way.
It was almost 10 pm and we went out for a walk to find some food. Walked along the beach promenade and then further into town. We were unlucky - all restaurants stopped serving at 10 pm.
We also felt too young for this place - and too poor.
On the way back we stopped at a beach bar with some "fast food, were the less old people seemed to meet, stand around and drink beer and wine. Less old does not mean young! Rather our age ;).
We had 2 beers and a Flammkuchen. It was actually a really nice and friendly atmosphere.
We went back to the hotel and crashed to bed.
Blipping the Burgrestaurant view and as extra the view from the room over the beach. Speciality here are the "Beach Baskets" or Strandkörbe!
They are amazing, your can sit in them sheltered, or tilt them back for sun bathing. they have foot rests and a little table. A brilliant piece of beach culture at the North see and the Baltic.
See more here.
Tomorrow for sure we will hire one :)
