WALNUT

Nice old clock which belonged to my great grandmother (she's the diminutive one in the middle of the extra - you can see me in the foreground - it's my second birthday!) - it has a curly English walnut veneer which was trendy in the late 19th century. It's standing on an 18th century French walnut chest.

Which my parents found in a farmyard near Fontainebleau, being used as a grain store for chickens & standing in mud. It took me a whole day to get it ready for waxing & appreciation.

To the right of the clock is more English walnut.

You got it - I Iove walnut - it's a glorious wood to work!
