White, green and grey

I set the table outside this morning because I thought we could have breakfast out there, but we decided it wasn't warm enough. We had son and d-I-l staying with us overnight.
This was the beginning of the 40th birthday weekend for d-I-l and the whole programme was a big secret for her. Even when they set off from here she had no idea what was going to happen. I have since heard via Facebook that they are at London Zoo where they will have tours of the zoo this evening and then before breakfast, and will sleep in a luxurious "pod" close to the lion enclosure! There is more excitement tomorrow too, but I shall have to watch Facebook to find out what they are up to.
Meanwhile I have been at home, and getting fed up with my garden. It looked so good a few weeks ago but now the roses are almost over, the weeds are growing apace and the ground is so hard it is difficult to do anything useful. It looks so tired. Now, in desperation, N has put the sprinkler on for me, to see if that can improve matters.
