Birds

Sparrows perch on a bare tree
like raisins spiked on a fork.

Rooks use a copse as a trampoline

And a blackbird pulses across the lawn, full of blind intent.

A seagull makes a white sail on a grey sky
But geese go one better and make a V.

A hen looks up through its monocle,
missing everything

And a pigeon shits on my car.

Plus ca change sighs the owl, wisely.
