Life from city to village

Open Gardens

Today was our local Open Gardens, in aid of a local hospice. It was a baking hot afternoon. As ever, we start with lunch, and then go wandering. This year we visited allotments, as well as gardens. In one (the extra) the owner had turned his entire garden into a jungle, from which there was a raised viewing platform, and a wooden path that snaked through, several ponds with carp, another seating area at the end, and an elevated walkway as well. Quite remarkable.

We finished up with some transformed ex estate cottages near the park, and an extraordinary house, recently rebuilt and the garden 'installed'. Bit of a display of wealth in that one.

The main blip is a hoverfly photographed on flowers.
