Strawberry Fields Forever
Late up, and then out strawberry picking [selv plukk!] with the kids. We won’t be making jam, so we restrict ourselves to a bounty of 3.5 kg, which is soon gathered. Norwegian strawberries are something special – maybe a result of the short, intense summers.
After lunch, more data arrives from the North Sea, so Liz needs to do some interpretation for a few hours. Thanks to the wonders of the Internet, she can do this from home. Meanwhile, I set about the block paving which covers the very fibre optic cable which makes such remote work possible. It's slow going at first, but like all such jobs, once you figure out the basic technique and build a rhythm, the pace picks up. I finish maybe a quarter of the job.
Liz’s makes her superlative steak pie for dinner, rinsed down with a couple of pints I feel I have earned, labouring under the hot sun.
