My Local

Decided that it was about time I focussed on some of Hampshire’s pubs, country hostelries with history and character, and where better to start than my local.

In fact the Red Rover has a warm place in my heart in that many years ago I had the privilege of being asked to perform the cutting the ribbon ceremony after a major refurbishment.

In those days it was really a traditional village pub, long before the focus of the majority of pubs, like this, changed to bring eating places.

Sadly, in many instances, even the change has not been sufficient for them all to survive.

So full marks to the Red Rover which I can still call my local. And it’s within walking distance of home!
