Swords and Sandals.
While the others were setting off for their last ride of the trip before heading home, Norman and I opted for a lazy day and got in the car to go sight seeing. At Cassel, on one of the few hills in Flanders, they were staging a medieval show complete with hog roast and blacksmith.
I was amused to note the security bag search at the entrances to the fenced off square. Meanwhile within the enclosure the folk dressed up in 13th Century costume were parading around brandishing swords and waving axes. In several instances the ancient weaponry was pointed at me - see extra for another threatened assault. Back at the entrances bags were being inspected for potential nail scissor terrorism.
Oh, and the children were enthralled by the Punch and Judy - see second extra.
