MonoMonday: "Power"
I had been planning to go to the travelling fair (The Hoppings) which is visiting Newcastle as it does every year in the last week in June, to get a photo representing "Power" - as suggested by this month's excellent MM host laurie54.
However I knew I was going to be short of time, and while out walking this morning I took a small detour to check on the progress of the road widening works on Killingworth Road here in Newcastle, and to see if there would be a suitable blippertunity there. I actually blipped a rant about the time they're taking for these works back in March, here and here. (Today's photo is taken a little further down the road from the position of the March photo.)
(The work started almost a year ago, with a completion date of February this year. That was then changed to "June", and then to "Summer". Now they've completely removed the estimate of the completion date from some of the notices! As you can see, there's still an awful lot to do.)
Anyway, the silver lining was the chance to get my photo of this powerful digger and the powerful truck working with it. I only had my cheap phone with me as a camera, which doesn't exactly have the best of lenses, but I thought that the light rays reflecting off the lens somehow added to the effect, demonstrating the power of the sun in the amazingly hot weather we're having at the moment.
