Community shop
Last night we stayed on the island of Great Bernera which is joined to the Isle of Lewis by The Bridge Over the Atlantic. You can read about the bridge here: http://storiesmysuitcasecouldtell.com/2014/09/23/crossing-the-bridge-over-the-atlantic-to-bernera/
Today we are in the west of Lewis, at Uig, where Jess is looking forward to a run on the beach. But first, we are visiting the community shop, A Buth, which is managed on behalf of the community by a cooperative through a committee of volunteers. Described as “the beating heart of the community”, it sells a huge range of food, drink, gifts and crafts, and is a good place to sit and have a coffee and write postcards.
