Bloomers

A long day of travelling but so well worth it. We have left the beautiful Adriatic coastline road running like a seam up the back of the leg of Italy's stocking, and somewhere around Venice we sneaked in under the knicker elastic of the big frilly bloomers at the top of the leg.  And that I think,  is  a good point to drop this whole anatomical analogy thing because I could get into big trouble as I describe where we are going after tomorrow.
We are now at the most stunning location in one of my favourite places in the world, the Dolomites. We're hoping to take the cable car up the Marmolada , one of the highest mountains in Italy and see it without snow , well a lot less than in winter, for a change. Hoping for a clear day tomorrow.

We have friends A and R who are currently touring around Italy and camping in their vintage Bentley ! A more stylish but less spacious way to travel than our 'Beast' We were hoping to meet up with them , but they are somewhere over the kneecap by now, and our paths won't cross. The Bentley seems to be a tad unreliable and A has to keep patching up its clutch with pieces of leather and string! They draw admiring glances and hordes of fans wherever they go. So if you happen to be in Italy over the next few weeks and you see them along the Amalfi coast or wherever, do give a cheery wave!

Today we have seen lorries and cars from Italy, France, Germany, Belgium,
Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Holland, San Marino, Switzerland,Czech Republic , Denmark, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania and various former Yugoslavian places and even Russia but not a single GB vehicle. We haven't heard or seen anyone else British for about four days!
Not too bothered.
The photo is of a lower flank of the Marmolada. See LooseCanon's blip for a connection with marmalade, the sticky fruit stuff, not the mountain.
