The White Cliffs of East Sussex

We spent a lot of time walking today. Firstly exploring a town neither of us have been to before, and then after lunch at a cafe by the Napoleon watchtower, we walked along the very long promenade from there to the Redoubt Fortress at the eastern end. The Redoubt was built 200 years ago to defend against Napoleon, also used in WWI and WWII, it is a huge circular building enclosing an open courtyard with cannon strategically placed along the walls.

Later we had tea at Favoloso a large cafe not too far from where we're staying. I had an excellent dressed crab with salad.

I took the photo this morning at the west end of the prom, just beyond this point is Beachy Head, the sun was sparking on the sea, see extra.
