Sparrowhawk with prey.

This is a male sparrowhawk which caught one of the waxwings that have arrived from Scandinavia. Some people get upset when they see 'their' garden birds taken by raptors but that's the real world. This hawk is a beautiful bird.

The waxwings are still coming to apples I put out for them but they aren't nearly as quarrelsome as before. I think these birds have been here for a few days and managed to feed so they aren't as aggressive as before.
