Border Hills
A lovely morning for a bike ride down to the Borders. As the forecast is sunny. I have to dig out the factor 50. Felt a bit cool to start, but as I have to climb almost immediately, I soon warm up. The wind seems SW, so I head out through Penicuik and out across the moor road to West Linton.
Then I head to Romannobridge and follow the B7059 to the A72. I head east to the B712, which I follow for a short while, then I take the minor road to Lyne. I stop here to take my blip of the Border Hills. The Meldons can be seen peaking at the back.
From Lyne, I head up through the Meldons To Eddleston, and up the Falla toll road to Gladhouse. Then its along the B6372, the top Gear road, to Penicuik, before heading home. Did I mention the wind? The whole route can be seen at Relive here.
The afternoon is spent in Morningside visiting the charity shops. We have an early afternoon coffee and cake. Lots of blue sky and sunshine. Lovely.
In the early evening, my partner and I head down to Giuliano's Italian Restaurant for a pre show meal. We are going to see Elvis Costello at the Playhouse. A great concert, with two 1 1/4 hour sets. A late evening, but a great day.
