Dovedale.
Two days ago we went with our friends to the beautiful area of Dovedale in Derbyshire. It was a perfect English summer setting on a beautiful day.
The clear water of the River Dove rippling over stones in the shallows or gliding smoothly by overhanging foliage and criss-crossing branches, created reflections and shadows in the intensity of the sunlight beating down from a cloudless blue sky.
I felt the whole of me unwind as I walked along.
We went on to IIam Park Estate, which is owned by the National Trust, enjoying the views from the Italian Garden, where we had a picnic lunch.
Later we wandered on along the river under shady lime trees by summer fields filled with waving grasses and wild flowers.
I could have stayed forever there, frozen in time.
