Moorland fires

Our moorlands are burning and smouldering. We need rain but it isn't forecast. 

This is Rivington Pike very close to Winter Hill (Just out of the shot on the left). The fire service are assessing the situation and seem to think it is under control, but as we stood there, little fires were breaking out all over the place. This is peat,  so I don't know how it is ever going to go out in this heat.  

I know that nature will eventually recover but it looks a bit bleak at the moment. I'm told that someone has been arrested for starting this fire.

This is normally a lovely place to walk, and it still was until we got to this point.
