Western meadow lark
I went for a walk on Rabbit Mountain this morning before it got too hot. It was the first time I've seen a rattlesnake on this walk, although I knew they were around. Unfortunately it had its head buried in the grass (the rattle was poking out), so wasn't going to make a good photograph! So here's a meadow lark doing what it often does, perching on a fence post.
Rabbit Mountain (and there are lots of rabbits, or cottontails) is a neat piece of open space that hosts diverse plant and animal life, very accessible from where I'm staying.
