Bomber Command

Like it or not, the older you get the more profound the past becomes.
The man up the road had been in a death camp. The man next door to him had been in a POW camp. Both had seen things. Mr Pender at number 24 had shot down some German aviators over Birmingham. They had no right to be there he said. At number 26 there was a single parent. Think her son, a classmate was called Alan. Nice lad, pictures on his bedroom wall of some ship or other.
At new year a piper came to our house. The dog yelled. He had been in Burma, not the dog, the piper. Wish I could remember his name .... Jim ... Skewes I think! Had a garden and grew tatties. Always said that after all he had been through he would dig his garden until he died. Funny though, he would never eat in your presence. Maybe something to do with the Japanese camps.
My point, was inspired to look through my dad's stuff today. He was in Bomber Command
