pearl harbor

though it's hard to tell, what lies below the water's surface is a portion of the wreckage of the uss arizona, sunk during the japanese attack on pearl harbor. of course, this is the ship everyone ventures to see as the memorial is positioned directly over it.

dad and i took a guided tour of pearl harbor and honolulu today. i think he's satisfied his checklist now for the area, and is looking forward to many days in the warm weather. overall, the tour was good - we both thought a bit corny, but pleasing for the most part.

we were told pearl harbor doesn't draw quite the crowds it used to. seemed to me the place was teeming with people - hate to imagine what it used to be like.
