manoa falls

felt like a hike today, so ventured up to manoa falls in the manoa valley. what a soaker! first off, it's positoned in a rainforest. second, the rainfall was exceptionally high today. it was worth it though - definitely no shortage of water-falling today. besides, having all the runoff during the hike made things that much more exciting.

when i'd finally made it back down and arrived to the bus-stop, i ran into the family from manitoba that on was on the bus ride out there - unfortunately they weren't able to go up on account of the difficulty of the small kids. they were in high spirits, as they were able to venture around the arboretum just below the trailhead and as i understood it, even ate at a restaurant nearby.

with them were four exchange students from spain, and a mom-daughter combo from the uk. obviously, the small bus shelter with no walls in a sideways rainstorm was not enough for all of us. fortunately the house across the street had a carport, so we soggy mass took shelter under there. as we never saw an owner, we tried to stay quiet in case they worked nights or so.

bet the homeowner is second guessing that "great deal" across from the bus stop.
