It's All I've Got

Dear Diary,

Thoroughly tuckered out from yesterday's adventure.  This is a wooden crow which I bought from a local guy, in his 80's, who makes them to ornament a fence post.  He is sitting on what is left of my stair railing which was taken out by snow and ice two winters ago.  I've been trying since then to decide what to do with the remaining post.  I thought the crow was a perfect addition!

Frankly, my mind is still on Appledore this morning.  What a lovely place and it was so good to see all the young people learning marine science there.  It is a very self-sufficient island too with solar and wind power like my beloved Star Island which is right "next door".  Appledore hosts painting and writing retreats too so I may look into that.  You get to stay on the island and that would be great fun but today Emerson and I are hanging out on the porch, another scorcher is predicted.
