The dropped stitch

Waiting to board the ferry to Shetland. An emergency blip and a small rant.

In these days of health and safety regulations being impressed upon us at every turn, why do you so often see these warnings in public toilets?

In our homes we are told 60 degrees is a sensible and economical heat for water, so why are public buildings allowed to disregard this advice and give us what feels like boiling water to wash our hands? It's a nightmare with small children and not easy to deal with for everyone else.
