We headed to the western end of the island today. This building, the Navetta des Tudons, is probably the single most famous remains on the island and was a Bronze Age burial site.
Our first stop of the day had been a Taliotic village near Sant Tomas, a pretty and gentle iste without that much to see other than the view.
On then to Poblat de Naviformes de son mercer de baix. A dirt track for several km started well but ended in a gate by a cheese shop. So we duly parked and walked on for about 2 km beofre getting to the site. Different agian - this one being a Bronze Age site with a large underground area supported by large columns in a horseshoe shape and covered in beautifully faced stones. Worth the walk. Tricia then felt obliged to buy some cheese from the famr shop.
After visiting Citdella for a very ropy lunch , we had navigated our way, eventually having been done by roads being called private and being gated, to Son Catlar, a Taliotic village surrounded by a kilometres worth of walls - called a Cyclopean wall. Inside more taliots, hypostatic halls, taulas and variuos other stones.
Finaslly on the weay home two more sites, both impressuive in their ways but with nothing we hadn't seen to some extent already.
After talking with our hotel owner for several minutes whilst he was rubbing his hands with glee after Germany had been knocked out of the World Cup, we had a decent evening meal in another Cala restaurant with Tricia enjoying swordfish and I squid.
