Giacometti at the Guggenheim
A marvelous exhibition of some 200 works by Alberto Giacometti on the winding galleries of Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Museum. This is a panorama overlooking the spacious corner gallery near the ground floor, from the next gallery up. It displays three works which Giacometti created for a competition in 1958 to erect sculptures at Chase Plaza in lower New York City, in the background. After creating these three figures he withdrew, daunted by the problems of scale. This was the main event of our day, followed by dinner with our friends Daralee and Gloria.
