Poisonous little critters

On the way home from golf today, lovely sunny weather, I spotted what looked like balls of fluff hanging from the pine trees. On closer inspection they were the nests of processional caterpillars. These are highly poisonous to both humans and animals. They build nests in pine trees and when the time is right they drop onto the ground and procede to march and eat their way through vegitation. They are blind so the only way they can stay together as a group is to touch one another head to tail, hence the name processional. These look as though they are almost ready to drop, in a week or two the workmen on the golf course should be spraying the pine trees with an insecticide to kill the little critters. They really are leathal.
