Guardia Costiera - Capri
We were up and out at 6am in order to get to Amalfi for the ferry to Capri. We found a place to park the car - hurrah! (never again will we car hire in Amalfi should we come back to this part of the world!)
Ferry over to Capri was uneventful.
We then picked up a local boat for the Blue Grotto.
We toured around the island and finally made it to the entrance of the Blue Grotto. Unfortunately our luck was not in as it was deemed too dangerous for new people to wait for entrance. Quite disappointing as I would have like to have been told that before we got on the boat but never mind! Back on firm land, these lovely guys were getting ready to have their picture taken. The guy on the bottom right of the picture was setting up the moment when he asked a member of the public to take over the camera, sadly not me. I saw my opportunity so jumped next to the guy taking the photo....these guys laughed and I got my shot. I spoke to the guy (bottom right of pic) after and asked him if I could tag them....he didn't quite understand but we both understood 'Facebook'!
We then walked up to the centre of Capri, quite a little hike but as we are not getting much long distance walking in (100k in August is looming!), we have figured uphill work will keep us going!
We had a lovely lunch in the main square and had a look around, and before we knew it, it was time to head back to the ferry. We really liked Capri (centre) and have already said we would like to go back in quieter months.
Our ferry back to Amalfi was again uneventful but once we got back to where we parked the car, the car was gone!! Thankfully, help was at hand and we found our car....we could have debated the signs about the parking as there was no indication that we couldn't park there after 9am....but we decided it just wasn't worth the hassle and paid the 'fine' for the car. Not best pleased but when there is a translation issue sometimes is just best keep heads down and get on with the day!
Back at the villa now and will be heading out for dinner when its a bit cooler! its 6pm and 32 degrees!
Tomorrow Pompeii, Sunday Gatwick then Heathrow for Hong Kong!
