2018 Friday — Strolling the Shoreline

Chloe enjoys sniffing every clump of kelp, which is a big job now that it is kelp harvesting season here on California’s Central Coast. The shoreline is carpeted with drying seaweed. Each morning we watch the kelp boat motor across the Estero Bay from south to north and then the cutting and loading of seaweed begins.

This evening we walked for a long stretch enjoying the song of the waves, the fragrance of the sea, and the friendliness of others.

Our friend Jane left this morning for her home in southern California, where the temperature is exploding the top of every thermometer. It was not a great day to be on the highways of this geography. From Santa Barbara to Riverside Jane traveled with heavier than usual traffic.

With our ceiling fans twirling, we stayed in the comfort of our little coast home, out of the direct rays of the sun, on this very warm Friday. Evening hours brought us to the outdoors and we were off to explore.
