Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Liz spends the day zipping around preparing for our imminent holiday. I’m not feeling well enough to be of much use, but I help provision the camping gas and a new folding table.
At home, in the afternoon, I hear the warning beep from our lawnmower, announcing that it’s about to start. Odd, I think, as it’s configured to keep itself out of the way at weekends. The mischievous and delighted giggle I hear coming up from the garden gives me the answer. Freya has mounted her iPad, which is running Pokémon Go, on top of the mower, and set it going. She explains it’s going to “hatch eggs“ for her, for which you normally need to cover many kilometres on foot. You wouldn’t think a grass eating robot would be much help, but it’s clocked up nearly 47 km trundling round the east lawn in the last month.
I can’t help but congratulate her on her ingenuity, and decide not to remind her that she really shouldn’t have her iPad outside of allowed hours.
