Delta

Late leaving on our vacation but it’s only a few hours to our first, and familiar, stop. The kids run off and play while we pitch the tent and get all the kit out.

The level of Tinnsjø (the lake) appears to have fallen by a good five metres, and the shoreline by the river delta has receded by about 150 m, revealing the delta top, which is a rich library of metamorphic cobbles, displaying impressive textures of textbook quality.

The river which caused this delta is a mere trickle. I reckon the lake is short of about one quarter of a cubic kilometre of water. Electricity prices will rise, as Norway becomes an importer of electricity over the summer. Time for more floating wind turbines in the North and Norwegian seas, and maybe even solar. Goodness knows we’ve got enough sun.
