Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

At last!

An auspicious day for the city. The Ross Fountain, after many years of being switched off, and many more decades rusting and sinking into the soft ground, has finally been restored to its full glory and turned on!!

There was a large crowd for the occasion, with speeches from people concerned, including a French mayor (it was built in France). Once the taps were turned on, it took about five minutes to reach full throttle, and now it will be gushing 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Yay! (Extra).

There were lots of activities going on around - story telling, jugglers, people on stilts, and even four lovely ladies dancing around with topiary heads (Extra 2).

JR then went off into town to return the gym shoes she brought home yesterday to try. Archie and I headed over the bridge and up the hill. Boy! It was hard going. Archie was even slower than I was! While we waited for a bus on the Mound, I kindly provided some shade for him (Extra 3).

We had a wee bbq while Archie played with chewed a new football which appeared in our garden. I think it may have bounced over the wall accidentally, but it's HIS now. I don’t think they'd want it back anyway.
