Anyone for....

.....croquet.  We went to see friends in Leamington Spa, they had laid a croquet court out on their large lawn, the theme for today. There were seven of us so three teams of two plus a referee.  Before lunch we had a practice hitting the ball through the hoops plus a comprehensive explanation of the rules of the game, far more complicated than I imagined. After lunch we had a 'proper' match, played with the understanding that only one person, Ian who had organised the afternoon, had ever played the game.  So a light-hearted, fairly non-competitive match, unlike another sporting event happening this evening! Not such good news for England :-(
