CANTERBURY J BOATS

These Radio Controlled yachts are called " Canterbury J Boats".  Its not uncommon in Christchurch on Wednesday to see 30 plus boats plying the waters at Lake Victoria.  This lot are sailing now at the Pond at Ferrymead where I counted 14 on the water. The boat which is a replica of the old Liptons J boat with a narrow keel have expanded around the world.- popular mainly because of their ability to overcome weeded up lakes. Deep keeled models dont have much use when a lake is carrying weed which most do.  Here is a pic of 4boats at Ferrymead today.
