Every Eight Weeks

I get my right eye injected.
Those who have Wet Macular Degeneration will know that the injection is neither painful nor discomforting. At around £1,000 per injection, but free on the NHS, the injections slow or halt the degeneration but the consultant today told me;
“Very good Mr Stevens, your eyesight in both eyes is showing signs of improvement, we will see you again in eight weeks”
Marvellous news!
The whole experience is ok, a bus to Truro listening to my music, Truro to the hospital by bus and then because we out patients go every eight weeks we are kind of on nodding terms with each other.
Over worked nurses apologising for the wait when there really is no need.
The journey home using two buses is a little different, the eye drops make the sunlight glaringly bright and the combination of temporary blurred vision in one eye and varifocal glasses causes you to walk like Thunderbirds puppet, much to the amusement of others.
But a little embarrassment is a small price to pay for preserving your vision.

Those who follow my blips will know that yesterday’s told of the wait for Joshua’s exam result, today he called and nonchalantly mentioned;
“75% Dad, fourth overall in the section, but that’s not important, I passed and that is”
Good lad
