TRAPPED
A day of things going wrong.
An insight into how Amazon deliveries work: we were waiting in for a promised delivery when I got an email saying "We tried to deliver but failed. We'll try again on the next delivery day." I looked out of the window and there was a white van with the driver busy on his phone so I rushed out, asked him whether he was Amazon and told him he definitely hadn't tried to deliver because here I was. So he told me that the package must have been put on a different van because he'd got here and didn't have it and the message was a standard message (why can't they have another standard message option saying "We screwed up, sorry"?). So a wasted call for him and wasted time for us, and based on previous experience the package will end up back at the depot in another van whose driver didn't have us on his schedule and rather than bother to try again they'll just return it to stock and tell us it was impossible to deliver it.
And the rest of the day continued much like that.
But at least I'm not Melania Trump.
