Exploring Glasgow, day one

Back blip
An early start to catch the train to Glasgow. We were lucky to get First class tickets for just over £10 :) A good journey down with a couple of free drinks and snacks .
First stop was the Glasgow Museum of Modern Art.Lots of unusual pieces of art work displayed in an interesting building. Pieces by Andy Warhol and Andy Goldworthy seen and the creation pictured by Michael C McMillan http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/15995819.Artists_are_aiming_to_capture_identity_of_modern_city/
Very realistic and glad we saw it as I had read about it earlier in the year and then forgot about it until we went through the dark curtain into a dark room and there it was. The artist had come across from America to help set it up and although at first he wanted people to be able to walk around it because of the space he thought it worked better against a wall where shadows could be seen from the ‘buildings’ etc.
On to the Willow Tea Room to enjoy a very good afternoon tea and a bowl of soup which we shared. https://www.willowtearooms.co.uk/buchanan-street/
I loved all the Mackintosh inspired furniture and fittings .
We dropped our bags at the hotel and then went in search of somewhere to eat which was difficult as everywhere was fully booked. Managed to find a seat at the Crown Plaza and had an Omelette and Salad.
Managed to see some of the football, including the goal from England and then headed for the Hydro to see Paul Simon on his Homeward Bound, The farewell tour. Plenty of toe tapping songs played with a great band , some I knew and some I did not. Had to wait till the very end to hear one of my all time favourite songs, The Sound of Silence, great to hear it live :)
